As of March 2021, 1 in 7 Georgia Households with children reported not having enough to eat “sometimes or often” in the past week. Georgia ranks 38th in the Nation for child and family well-being, but one local organization is making a difference one family at a time.

Helping Hands – Ending Hunger is a Chattooga County organization that helps empower students to rescue uneaten food from school cafeterias to alleviate food insecurity, reduce waste, encourage education equity, and shape a better world.

This past week, the organization was able to give 12,000 meals to 207 Chattooga County families that included 291 children.  The food giveaway was held at Connect City Church in Summerville with the aid of multiple volunteers.
