Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is facing an uphill battle when he runs for re-election next year and local Chattooga County Republicans are calling for the Governor to step down now.

Kemp has drawn criticism from Republicans across the state after Kemp stood by the 2020 Presidential Election results that gave Georgia’s electoral votes to President Joe Biden over former President Donald Trump.

The Summerville News reported this week that local Republicans passed a resolution at their convention, introduced by Charles Stoker of Cloudland, that calls for Governor Brian Kemp to step down now.

Local Republican elected officials are remaining silent on the measure.  The local paper asked Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry about the resolution and he declined to comment.  According to the paper, other elected officials also declined to comment on the matter.

Earlier this week, former President Donald Trump once again said that he was cheated out of Georgia’s electoral votes in the 2020 Election.  The former President also claims that there was no voter fraud in the states that he carried in the last election.
