A group of local veterans formed a local advocacy group to honor the Stars and Stripes.  The group organized and is planning the culmination of their first big project this week on Veterans Day.

Veteran’s for Our American Flag says, “One morning a group of us Veterans was having breakfast as we usually did during the week. We were talking about home and world affairs and how our flag was being dishonored locally and abroad. We were very displeased with what had taken place and was taking place concerning the US Flag, the Flag that we had served and fought for. We decided it was time to do something about it. So we got together and formed our organization ‘Veteran’s For Our American Flag’ “.

On November 11th, Veterans Day, Veteran’s for our American Flag will be raising a large flag on Scott Hill, near Highway 27 south at 2 PM on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11.  The flag raising will be an event to honor WWII Veteran Robert Duke, recipient of 3 Bronze Stars while serving in the Army during WWII in the European Theater.  There will also be a Fly Over of  WWII antique airplanes during the ceremony. ”

Scott Hill is located in the Gore Community on U.S. Highway 27 between the intersections of Farmersville and Unity Church Road.   The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony this Veterans Day.
