Funeral services are set for tomorrow for local World War II hero and longtime Walmart employee Hoyt Williams.  Mr. Hoyt was well known to the people of Chattooga County for greeting them with a smile at the local Walmart.

Williams served our nation in World War II in both the European and Pacific theaters and returned home to operate a grocery store for many years.  He also served as Mayor of Trion and on the Trion Board of Education and the Chattooga County Water District.

But many of the younger generation remember Mr. Hoyt from the nearly three decades he spent working for Walmart, despite being many years past traditional retirement age.

A tribute to Mr. Hoyt is set up at Walmart in Chattooga County that reads,

“….. we lost a very special member of our Walmart Family. Mr Hoyt had dedicated 29 years of his life to our Store. He was a pillar in our store as well as our community. It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to our “Buddy.” He will be truly missed by all our associates and our customers.”
