The Summerville Police Department responded to a reported dog attack on November 20, 2025, on Bittings Avenue. Around 7:05 a.m., officers were called to a home after a family’s dog, which was secured outside on a runner line, was attacked by a boxer–pit bull mix from a nearby residence.

According to the report, the loose dog ran onto the neighboring property and attacked the tethered pet before its owner was able to get control of it and secure the animal. No people were hurt in the incident, but the victim’s owner told police she was concerned about possible vet bills from any injuries her dog may have suffered.

Both parties agreed that the owner of the loose dog would cover any veterinary costs if treatment was needed. Police issued that owner a leash-law citation for allowing the dog to run loose. The owner also told officers she plans to surrender the dog to animal control, and arrangements were made for her to bring the dog in and sign a relinquishment form the following day.
