Lori Brady has qualified as a Republican for Seat 3 on the Chattooga Board of Education.  Brady will be facing off against Steve Groves in the Republican Primary in May and incumbent Democrat Lynn Hall in the General Election in November.  Brady released the following statement:

I am seeking the Republican nomination for Chattooga County School Board Seat # 3, Menlo District. I am a lifetime native of Chattooga County with interest in the direction of the school system in the upcoming years.

I was raised in Menlo, am a Menlo Elementary alumnus, 2006 graduate of Chattooga High School and now reside close to my family farm where I am raising my 3 children with my husband of 16 years. My mother and grandmother both taught at Menlo School. I have spent the last 12 years in healthcare, first as an ICU/CCU nurse and now as a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner in Rome. I have a vested interest in making sure the school system has a path of growth and flourishment and hope to invest my time learning about the system, its budget and future changes.

With the topic of 4 verses 5-day school week being discussed again, I want to make sure that the right decision is being made that will be in the best interest of the students at all grade levels and believe that what works for some does not work for all. I want to hear from the parents, teachers and administrators, look over financial statements and budgets, and review current and past scores to determine the best path for future students. I don’t want the reason to return to a 4-day week to be an attempt to save money. I believe there will be hidden costs to the students and the community that can’t be shown with dollar signs and want the decision to truly reflect a well-thought out and debated decision.

I hope to be given the chance to provide my background of concerned mother and healthcare provider to the community and school system that contributed so greatly to the person and professional that I am today. Again, I am running for the Chattooga County School Board, Seat #3 and would appreciate the support of the community.
