With the New Year, there is some relief in Georgia worker’s paychecks on the way.  Georgia Governor Brian Kemp made the announcement in December that the state will be cutting the income tax rate in 2024.

Speaking about House Bill 1437,  Kemp called his proposal the “largest income tax cut” in the state’s history and estimated Georgia residents will save about $1.1 billion in 2024 due to the new rate. HB 1437 will remain in effect until the new rate reaches 4.99 percent, Kemp’s office said.

The rate for Tax Year 2024 will be 5.39 percent.
