Arguably one of Chattooga County’s most famous native sons, local Attorney Bobby Lee Cook was known worldwide as one of the nation’s leading criminal defense attorneys. Mr. Cook’s acquaintances and friends were people from varied backgrounds from former President and Ambassador Clinton and former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn, to the people he grew up with in Chattoogaville and countless families in the county that could always county on Mr. Cook being a friend.
Honoring Mr. Cook’s legacy is the motivation behind a resolution that is currently being considered by the Georgia General Assembly and was co-sponsored by State Rep. Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee), who represents Chattooga County in the Georgia House.
Mr. Cook maintained a home on Lookout Mountain at Cloudland for many years, and fondly referred to the mountain as “home” and mountain folks as his “friends and neighbors.”
The resolution before the General Assembly would name the intersection of Highway 48 and Highway 157 (at the caution light at Cloudland) in honor of Bobby Lee Cook.
