State Representative Eddie Lumsden’s district will grow to include more of Floyd County after the General Assembly approved new redistricting maps.

Lumsden’s 12th District includes all of Chattooga County and includes areas in the Little Texas Valley and Armuchee communities.  With the new maps, Lumsden’s district will also take in Cave Spring and Lindale.

Lumsden, a former state trooper and Floyd County Commissioner, was first elected as state representative in 2012 when he narrowly defeated seven-term Chattooga County Democrat Barbara Massey Reece.   In that first race, Lumsden did not carry Chattooga County, but mustered enough votes in Floyd County to win the seat.

Lumsden is an active member of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Armuchee Ruritan Club, a member of the American Legion Post #5 and an Affiliate Member of the Rome Board of Realtors. He was appointed by Governor Perdue to the State Consumer Advisory Board and has served in that role for the past six years.

He is a Deacon, Decision Counselor and Worship Leader at West Rome Baptist Church where he has been a member for 28 years.
