The Lyerly Fire Department is in need of new pagers and radios.  At Tuesday night’s meeting of the Lyerly Town Council, Scott Jackson told Mayor Jessica Eller and the Lyerly Town Council that the fire department’s radios and pagers needed to be upgraded in order to be compatible with Chattooga County’s new 911 system.  Jackson said that the radios are about $775.00 each and the pagers are around $420.00 each.  The Town of Lyerly plans to apply for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant to help pay for the radios and pagers along with new turnout gear.  The deadline for the grant application is April 1, 2011.
