The Lyerly Town Council will consider the resume of a Lyerly resident for the position of Council member when they hold their regular monthly meeting this evening. 

Lyerly Town Clerk Joy Hampton told AM 1180 on Monday that while several people applied for the job of council member, only three were qualified to fill the position and of those three only Holly Burrage submitted a resume to the council.

Hampton pointed out that some of the qualifications included being a resident of the town of Lyerly; being registered to vote and that the person seeking the position could not owe back taxes or utility payments to the Town of Lyerly.

The Town Clerk said that the qualifications are laid out in the Town’s Charter and they were not set by the current Mayor or Town Council. 

Lyerly’s Town Charter was adopted in 1891 and last revised in 1983.  In all around 10 people inquired about the open position.
