The Town of Lyerly will be conducting a smoke test of the sanitary sewer lines.
The testing will take place: THE WEEK OF : Feb. 11, 2013
The purpose of the test is to locate places where excess water is entering the sewer
system during a rain event. In the days prior to the testing please make sure that you run
enough water into all sinks, tubs, and floor drains (toilets always hold water), especially
if they are not frequently used, to fill the pea traps. Be advised that you will see smoke
coming from the sewer vents of your buildings and this is normal during the smoke
testing in your area. There should not be smoke inside the buildings. If smoke does enter,
it indicates a problem with your plumbing inside. Be advised that the smoke itself is NOT HARMFUL. Smoke will also be visible in streets and yards along the sewer lines right-of-ways.
If you have any questions, please call Town Hall @ 706-895-2611.
