A special community event is coming to Summerville on Sunday, March 8, as Make-A-Wish Georgia grants a heartfelt wish for 13-year-old Jude.

Jude, who is battling cancer, wished to give back to his community. In honor of his wish, a free catered hot meal will be served and backpacks filled with essential items will be distributed to individuals and families facing food or housing insecurity.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center, located at 33 Middle School Road in Summerville. Anyone in need of support is welcome to attend.

The Community Resource Center of Chattooga County is helping facilitate the wish and shared their appreciation for being involved.

“Being able to be a part of this Make-A-Wish event has been very humbling,” the organization said. “If you would like to be a part of helping Jude have an even bigger impact in his community, feel free to check out this Amazon link to help by supplies for those most vulnerable in our community.”

Those who would like to contribute can visit the Amazon wish list provided by organizers to donate supplies that will go directly to community members in need.

Organizers say the event is about more than a meal — it’s about neighbors helping neighbors and making a young man’s wish to serve others come true.
