A sixty-five-year-old Summerville man was arrested last Thursday on DUI charges after he almost sideswiped a Chattooga County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle.
According to a report released this week, the deputy was traveling on Highway 27 near the Grocery Outlet when a vehicle failed to yield and pulled out onto Highway 27, nearly hitting the deputy. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver. While speaking with the driver, the deputy noticed a faint smell of marijuana. The driver said he had smoked a joint about 25-30 minutes earlier. When the man stepped out of the vehicle, he was staggering and the deputy smelled alcohol on the man’s person.
Willie Patrick White was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol along with failure to yield and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
