A man was arrested over the past weekend after he tried to avoid a safety checkpoint being conducted by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office on Back Penn Road.

According to a report from the sheriff’s office, deputies observed a vehicle get within sight of the checkpoint and turned around in the middle of the road in an apparent attempt to avoid being stopped by law enforcement.

A deputy went after the vehicle and found it parked on the side of the roadway.  When the deputy asked the man who was driving why he had turned around, he told the deputy “I got lost.”

Danny Burroughs was arrested for driving on suspended or revoked license, no insurance and suspended registration.
