A traffic stop last week resulted in the arrest of Taylor Blackmon on several charges, including speeding and possession of methamphetamine.

Deputy Jonathan Reynolds of the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office was enforcing speed limits when he clocked Blackmon’s white vehicle going 81 mph in a 65 mph zone. The vehicle also failed to maintain its lane, prompting Deputy Reynolds to pull it over.

Upon approaching the car, Deputy Reynolds noticed items next to Blackmon, such as a charger cube, a spring-loaded knife, and a small clear plastic bag. He recognized Blackmon and activated his body camera, asking about the contents of the bag. Blackmon allegedly tried to hide the items and, when asked to exit the car, admitted that the substance in the bag was methamphetamine.

He complied with the officer’s request to hand over the bag, which contained a white crystal-like substance believed to be meth. While in the patrol car, Blackmon requested help or asked if anything could be let go. After being informed of his rights, he declined to make any deals and was taken to jail facing charges for speeding, lane failure, drug possession, and possibly other charges related to the knife.
