A 23-year old Rome man has been arrested in connection with a "smash and grab" burglary

According to Floyd County Jail records, Devunta Jamar Wood, of a Cliffview Drive address, threw and object through the glass door at the “Little Garden” on Dean Avenue back on January 15.

Wood reportedly took $996 in lottery tickets.

Then the next day, Wood allegedly stole a purse from a woman at Floyd Medical Center.

The arrest warrant states that Wood then struck a security guard with the stolen purse.

In addition to burglary, Wood is charged with two counts of theft by taking, simple battery, obstruction of officers and a parole violation.
