A Summerville man was arrested late last Thursday after attempting to get physical with a sheriff’s deputy.
Around 10 PM last Thursday, a local deputy arrived at a Ben Mosley Cir. residence in Summerville regarding a domestic dispute between two men. Complainant Nina Wedgeworth told the deputy that after an evening of playing card and drinking, her son, Christopher Wedgeworth, and another male got into a physical fight. While the deputy spoke with Nina, Christopher was being physically restrained by two women to keep him from interrupting.
When the deputy tried to speak with Christopher, he reportedly was very belligerent and insisted he “knew his rights”, refusing to discuss the incident. He did however, admit he was drunk, and smelled heavily of alcohol, according to the deputy’s report.
As the deputy pleaded with Wedgeworth to calm down and explain what happened, Wedgeworth reportedly became increasingly aggressive, raising his voice and putting his hands in the deputy’s face. When Wedgeworth told the deputy to “Get the f— off my property”, the deputy demanded he change his tone, but he continued being belligerent, and was eventually placed under arrest and taken to the county jail on a charge of disorderly conduct.
