A Summerville man was arrested this week after he was found rummaging through items left for donation at a local thrift store.

The man had been told twice to leave the area at the Providence Thrift Store in the old Bi-Lo building in Summerville.   When a deputy arrived on the scene he saw the suspect sitting on a huge pile of clothes that had been dropped off at the thrift store.

The man said he was going through the items because he was homeless and needed clothes.   The deputy told the man that he could not be screaming and cussing in public and that he had already been told twice to leave.

The deputy said that the man began to talk “out of his head”.  Believing the man to be under the influence of some substance, the deputy placed forty-five-year-old Jeremy Paul Crump under arrest for disorderly conduct and transported him to the Chattooga County Jail.
