A Dallas, Georgia man was arrested on the Berry College Campus by Floyd County Police and Georgia DNR agents.

According to Floyd County Police, an officer noticed a vehicle traveling on Huffaker Road that was missing a headlight.   When the officer pulled the vehicle over, a DNR agent radioed the officer and asked him to hold the driver and passenger of the vehicle until she arrived.

While waiting for the DNR officer to arrive, the Floyd County Police officer discovered a suspected methamphetamine pipe in the pocket of the driver, identified as twenty-six-year-old Austin Ray Cline. Cline told officers that he had found the pipe in the vehicle and picked it up and put it in his pocket.  At that point, he also admitted to the officer that he had a gun in the vehicle – after having denied it earlier.  Officers found a loaded 30-30 rifle in the vehicle.

When the DNR officer arrived on the scene, she identified the driver and the vehicle as having been caught on camera on Berry property spotlighting deer.

Austin was booked into the Floyd County Jail on a variety of charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of methamphetamine.
