A Summerville man attacked by his stepson Wednesday at the Chattooga County Courthouse was released from the hospital Wednesday evening.  Olin Ford, of a Hair Lake Road address, went by the Sheriff's office at about 6 p.m. that evening to give a statement to Investigator James Durham concerning the incident that left him almost unrecognizable to family and friends.  

The incident unfolded at about just before 10 a.m. Wednesday morning when 55-year-old  Ford rode to the courthouse with his stepson, 33-year-old Dustin  Starkey, of Palm Tree Road, Trion, to meet with Starkey's parole officer at the probation office located in the courthouse. Everything reportedly was amicable, according to Durham, but at some point Starkey attacked Olin with seemingly no provocation beating him about the head and face with his fists.  In the end, an ambulance was called for Ford, who   had multiple lacerations on the face. Ford's his right eye was swollen completely shut with the  bottom eyelid on his right eye appearing to be torn from the corner of the eye at the nose to about a quarter of the way toward the right side of the eye socket, according to the report. 

Starkey was charged with  aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act; aggravated battery under the Family Violence Act; simple assault under the Family Violence Act; two counts of misdemeanor obstruction of officers; and disorderly conduct. He was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on Wednesday and then transferred to the Floyd County Jail, where he remained on Friday.
