The driver who police say caused the Feb. 11 wreck that led to the death of an Armuchee teenager was arrested early Saturday morning on multiple charges related to the crash, including felony vehicular homicide, according to Floyd County Jail records.

Thomas Gary Doss, 65, of 1184 Little Texas Valley Road, was also charged with driving on the wrong side of the road and misdemeanor reckless driving, according to jail records.

Reports did not indicate what in the investigation led to the charges, but Jerome Poole, public information officer for the FCPD, said officers are still working on the case and felt like they had enough evidence to charge Doss.

Poole said a full report would be available Monday.

Doss was arrested early Saturday just after midnight.

Thomas Allen Goodson Jr., 16, a soccer player at Armuchee High School, was killed in the wreck.

The sophomore had just left soccer practice around 4:30 p.m. when the Toyota Camry he was driving was crushed by a red pickup truck driven by Doss, police said.

Police said Doss was traveling north on U.S. 27 and was attempting to move into the turn lane, but never stopped and crashed his truck into the teen’s car.
