A Rome man remained in jail Monday after being accused of stealing money and jewelry from a pawn shop.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Dekaylon Tyquan Thompson, 18, of 415 Wilson Ave., was arrested Monday at 3:23 a.m. at Rome Gun & Pawn, 305 North Fifth Ave., after police found jewelry and money on him. Thompson admitted to stealing the items from the pawn shop and breaking the front windows of the store. After he was placed in the patrol car, Thompson tried to escape.
Damage to the pawn shop was estimated at more than $1,000. Thompson took $200 in cash, a necklace and a ring, all of which were recovered.
Thompson is charged with felony counts of burglary, criminal damage to property and escape. He is also charged with misdemeanor obstruction. No bond was set.
