A man accused of stabbing another man on Monday afternoon is now in jail.

According to Floyd County Jail and Rome police reports, 25-year-old Cody Lee Barron of a Morrison Campground Road residence was booked into jail early this morning.

Barron stabbed a man in the arm twice after he tried to intervene in a fight between Barron and his girlfriend at a Maple Avenue residence on Monday, according to a police report.

Barron also had a gun, which he pointed at the victim and fired in the air, the report stated. The victim was able to kick Barron and knock the gun out of Barron’s hand before he was stabbed.

The report stated that Barron picked up the gun and took the victim’s wallet containing $843 in cash and his cell phone before running into the woods.

The victim’s wounds were not life threatening.

Police searched for Barron on Monday using a K-9 but could not find him.

Barron is charged with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, battery, reckless conduct, robbery and aggravated assault.
