A Summerville man was cited last week in connection with an accident near Walmart in Pennville.  According to the Georgia State Patrol’s weekly accident report, the accident happened on May 25 at the intersection of Underwood Drive (the road by Walmart) and Highway 27.

Wittnesses said that 44 year-old William Randall Finster was speeding in the left lane of Highway 27 when he ran a red light and was struck by a vehicle driven by 53 year-old Jimmy Earl Cleveland of Summerville who was pulling out onto Highway 27 from Underwood Drive.

According to the accident report released yesterday, Cleveland was totally ejected from his vehicle and suffered injuries to his chest.  He was taken to a Rome hospital by Redmond EMS.

Finster was cited by Georgia State Troopers for driving under the influence of medication, drugs or alcohol.  According to the report, Walmart provided State Troopers with a video of the accident from one of their security cameras.
