A man was found at the corner of Callahan Street and North Broad Street around 12:15 p.m. Thursday, suffering from a deep stab wound to the back and taken to Floyd Medical Center.

The victim, who identified himself as Lawrence Taylor, 26, no address provided, was found sitting next to a utility pole at the corner of North Broad and Callahan with a serious wound to his back just below the left shoulder blade.

Taylor told police that he had gotten a ride from a woman he did not know and that the woman had stabbed him in the back after an altercation. He managed to jump out of the vehicle at the intersection and call for help.

Phillips said that, during the follow-up investigation, he was told Taylor was being treated for a collapsed lung.
