A 21 year-old Cartersville man, Jessie Tyler Law, was killed on Thanksgiving in a two vehicle accident near Kingston. Reports said that a Chrysler 300, driven by 47 year-old Willie Joe Heath, was traveling south on Ga 293 when it crossed over a double yellow line and struck Law’s northbound 1996 Dodge Ram.

A passenger in Law’s truck, Kendra Alayne Mealer, 20 of Adairsville, was injured and taken to a local hospital.

Heath, who had to be extricated from the truck, was also injured and transported to the hospital.

Charges are pending. This crash is still under investigation.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the Thanksgiving holiday is typically one of the busiest travel periods of the year. The holiday travel period is 102 hours long. It will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, and end at midnight on Sunday, November 29.

Last year during a similar 102-hour travel period, troopers investigated 676 traffic crashes that resulted in 288 injuries and 15 fatalities during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.
