
A 22-year old Rome man who was arrested after allegedly pointing a pistol at a woman and threatening her is now also facing a felony count of influencing a witness.
According to a warrant on file at the Floyd County Jail, Jauan Rashaun Porter, who was arrested on September 3, called his mother from jail on September 7 and asked about the victim, who was asleep in the residence.
Porter reportedly told the victim to go to the police department, get a report and then sign an affidavit stating that nothing happened. The warrant states that Porter sounded angry and agitated and stated that he should have done more to the victim.
He is also heard on the phone call telling his mother to kick the woman out of the home.
According to the warrant, Porter had been advised that the phone call was being recorded.
