A man pictured on a Rome City Police motorcycle posted a statement on Facebook that caused a good bit of controversy over the weekend. The man identified as “Bobby Bynum” posted the picture and then in the comment section made the statement, “Long live KKK”.
Rome City Police were made aware of the post and say that Bynum did work in law enforcement in Atlanta in the past, but he has never worked for the Rome City Police Department. Rome Police issued the following statement:
We have been contacted by multiple individuals expressing concern over the attached image. We are extremely upset about Mr Bynum’s comment and he DEFINITELY does not represent Rome PDs thoughts or values!!
We did some research on Mr Bynum and found he was never a police officer for Rome PD. He is former law enforcement from the Atlanta area and came to Rome many years ago. While he was in Rome he took a picture on one of our officers motorcycles.
We are in the process of contacting Mr Bynum and having him remove any representation of Rome PD he has publicly posted. We are very glad the community brought this to our attention!
