A Rossville man racked up charge after charge during a high-speed chase that started early Sunday morning near the Lafayette Walmart.

According to troopers, 38 year old James Robert Taylor was pulled over on Highway 27, for Improper Tag, shortly after 9:30am.

Taylor fled the scene and that pursuit began on Georgia Highway 136, where after traveling about eight miles, he turned onto Camp Road – where a PIT maneuver was used to being his Ford Contour to a stop near the intersection of Old Bethel Road and Taylor-Broome Road.

Taylor bailed out and fled into a nearby wooded area being found and taken into custody in less than two hours.

While being booked into jail officers found that Taylor had methamphetamine hidden in the waistband of his pants.

Taylor was already wanted on a felony probation violation for possession of meth and after the pursuit he was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, the possession of meth, and three counts of speeding, occurring on three separate highways; in addition to obstruction of an officer, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to obey traffic control devices, failure to maintain lane (weaving), crossing a guard line with drugs, passing in a no-passing zone, improper turn, criminal trespass, driving while declared a habitual violator, and with failure to stop at a stop sign.
