A LaFayette man told police that someone stole four large boxes and six large envelopes that contained more than $4,500 in merchandise from outside his residence.

According to LaFayette Police Department reports: someone had stolen the boxes and envelopes that were left outside the man’s Amberwood Apartment complex at 1212 West North Main Street. The man said he had left the packages out for UPS to pick up on that date.

When he woke up around 9 a.m. that day, the packages were gone and he assumed UPS had retrieved them. Once the victim checked the tracking on the mail, he discovered that UPS never made the pickup. UPS confirmed that the packages were never retrieved by the mail carriers. The man said he believes someone stole the packages from his front porch over the course of the night. The estimated value of the merchandise equaled $4,514.
