Summerville Police responded to a call about a vehicle theft last week. When officers spoke with the complainant, he explained that originally he thought his vehicle had been repossessed by a title pawn company, but now he believes it was stolen.
Larry Griffin told the responding officer that he pawned the title to a 1995 GMC Sonoma in October and had never made any payments. So he wasn’t surprised go out one day and find that the vehicle was missing. Griffin told the officer that he assumed the title pawn company had picked the vehicle up for lack of payment.
Then last week, the title pawn company called Mr. Griffin and demanded either payment for the loan or possession of the vehicle. Griffin said at that point he realized that the vehicle must have been stolen.
The case was turned over to an investigator.
