Summerville Police were called to a local business earlier this month after a man was seen on video surveillance stealing a wheel and tire off a small truck.

According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, the incident happened on June 13th at Whites Tire & Alignment on Old Mill Road.   In the video surveillance shown to police, a tow truck pulls up with a Chevrolet S-10 and unloads the vehicle.  The tow truck leaves and a few minutes later the video shows the suspect locating another Chevrolet S-10 on the lot at the business and then removing a front wheel and tire from that truck and putting it on the truck that was towed.   The video then shows the suspect defecating on the property.

Police were able to identify the twenty-eight-year-old suspect.  When police made contact with the suspect he told police, “It was a really bad night.”

Benjamin Steven Wilhite returned the stolen wheel and tire to White’s and was then booked into the Chattooga County Jail on theft charges.
