If your brake light doesn't work and you've already been stopped numerous times by law enforcement for that reason, it's probably not a good idea to drive around in the same vehicle smoking pot. That's what two Chattooga County men found out on Monday.
According to the report by the local Sheriff's Office, Nathan Lee Green was stopped in a white Camaro driving west on Trion-Teloga Road for having a defective brake light. Green reportedly told Deputy Brock Campbell that he has been stopped by law enforcement several times for the car's defective equipment.
Brock also smelled burnt marijuana according to the report and Green and his passenger, Billy Green, admitted to smoke marijuana inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up suspected marijuana scattered inside the vehicle; suspected marijuana inside an audio speaker and a marijuana roach in the ash tray. Neither man admitted to ownership.
The men then were told they were both under arrest for possession of marijuana and asked if they had anything illegal to surrender before crossing a guard line. At that point, Nathan Green removed the boot from his foot and kicked the boot to the officer, who inside the boot found a bag of suspected marijuana.
