A car trying to avoid a checkpoint that was set up at the Mountain View Road and West Spring Creek Road intersection, caught the attention of law enforcement last week.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, a vehicle driven by Crystal Hughes, made a turn to avoid the checkpoint. A deputy followed the car and made a stop on First Street and Thomas Road. When the deputy spoke with Hughes she told him that she avoided the checkpoint because she had been smoking marijuana. When asked if she had anymore marijuana in the vehicle, Hughes retrieved two baggies with suspected marijuana from the console of the car.
The deputy asked the passenger if he could drive the vehicle home, and he told the officer that he had been drinking and could not drive.
According to the report, a family member came and retrieved Hughes, her passenger and the vehicle.
