Chattooga County Master Gardener Harold Cunningham jokingly said, “I’m just trying to work off my library fines” as he and other Master Gardeners worked together on a community project at the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library.

On Friday April 3, representatives from the Master Gardeners of Northwest Georgia and the city of LaFayette could be seen laying sod at the library.

“The library is what the community makes it,” said library branch manager Tim York. “We are blessed to have a community that puts both time and effort into making our library a beautiful place to learn and visit.”

More than 16,000 square feet of sod was donated to the library by The Sod Farm of Villanow. Cherokee Regional Library System director Lecia Eubanks said she is tickled pink by the gift of green grass for the library.
