The mayor of a town in Cherokee County Alabama got into an altercation with an irate citizen last week and the incident is now under investigation. According to reports the fight happened when a man approached Mayor Edward Mackey of Leesburg about chemicals being sprayed on the grass near his house, instead of the grass being mowed. The man allegedly assaulted the mayor. An ambulance was called to the Leesburg Town Hall….the mayor was uninjured however the irate citizen was treated by paramedics after the altercation. The incident is being investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department instead of the Leesburg Police Department since it involved the mayor of the town. No charges have been filed.
