Menlo and Cloudland residents that normally use the Menlo Convenience Center to dump their trash will be forced to drive to Summerville to the Chattooga County Transfer Station when the dump site on Highway 48 closes at the end of this month.

Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry managed to get an extension on the closing of the dump site in Menlo which was originally planned to be closed at the end of February.  While the commissioner says that he is still looking for a new location, none has been located to date.

The property the Menlo Convenience Center is located on is private property that was leased to the county.  That property has recently sold and the new owners don’t want the dump site there.

The Menlo site will close at 5:30 PM on March 31st.
