The City of Menlo has decided not to roll back the millage rate for residents living within the city limits.
Unlike the City of Summerville which has no property taxes, the City of Menlo collects the tax on property, homes and businesses inside the city limits.
The millage rate for Menlo residents will be 5 mills. With the increase in assessments for many property owners, the city will see an increase of around $5,000 in added property taxes for 2021.
Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry plans to roll the millage rate back slightly for the county’s portion of property taxes. The Chattooga County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in the property tax by 4.58%.
