A Menlo man was arrested in Summerville for driving under the influence, according to a report from the Summerville Police Department that was released on Monday.
An ambulance called 911 after seeing a vehicle driving erratically on Rome Boulevard (Highway 27). Officers responded and pulled the vehicle over near Harvey’s South End Auto. When they spoke with the driver, officers say that they could smell the alcohol on the man’s breath.
Officers asked the driver if he had been drinking. According to the report, the driver refused to respond to the officer. Officers then asked the driver if he would consent to a field sobriety test. The driver said that he wouldn’t say anything without an attorney present.
After several attempts to get the driver to talk with them, the officer did a search of the man’s vehicle and found open containers of alcohol.
Summerville Police arrested forty-four-year-old Stewart Toles of Menlo and charged him with DUI.
