Earlier this month, a Menlo man was charged with a violent domestic incident.  As sheriff’s deputies were responding to the incident, the suspect left the Jamestown Road residence and later crashed a GMC Envoy.

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader said that the suspect, identified as Zachary William Brown, was seriously injured in the crash.

The victim was reported to have visible red marks on her head and throat and reported that she became fearful of Brown after an incident in which he began banging a firearm on the porch of the residence because it wouldn’t fire.  The victim said that Brown was intoxicated and she feared for her and her children’s safety, so she locked Brown out of the house.

Brown reportedly broke down the door and assaulted the victim by kicking her in the head and dragging her by the hair.

Brown was taken into custody after crashing his vehicle and when he was discharged from the hospital, Brown was charged with aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act, first-degree cruelty to children, third-degree cruelty to children, battery under the Family Violence Act, terroristic threats and acts, disorderly conduct, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain single lane, seatbelt violation and criminal trespass under the Family Violence Act, according to jail reports.
