The City of Menlo is without a city clerk.  The former clerk, Jill Neal of Cloudland, resigned along with the city’s water department head.  Also, the city is facing fines because there is no one at the helm of the city’s water treatment facility.

So far, the City of Menlo has not replaced either the city clerk or the water department employee.

The city is facing fines that began last Friday due to the lack of a certified operator at the water treatment facility.  The state Environmental Protection Division says that the city is not “efficiently running” its treatment facility according to a letter delivered to the city last week.  The city is facing fines and possible litigation if they don’t hire a certified employee soon.

Menlo Mayor Allen Keen had said that he hoped to be able to talk City Clerk Jill Neal into coming back to work at the city, but Neal has taken a position at a company in Dade County.  The City of Menlo is now advertising for a city clerk.  In a notice about the job opening, no pay was listed, but those interested may call 706-862-2440 for more information.

Candidates for the position must be proficient in Harris Municipal software, Excel and Word, accounting and bookkeeping, payroll and payroll taxes, utilities and dealing with the public.
