Students at Menlo Elementary School will be starting the 2023-2024 school year in a brand-new building.  Chattooga County Board of Education Chairman Eddie Elsberry tells WZQZ News that the building will be ready for students when they return to class on July 28th.

Elsberry said, “The school building is essentially ready for use. There is still some furniture assembly to do and a few punch list items to follow up on. The contractors are currently working on the driveway for cars and buses as well as some parking for the first day of school”.  Elsberry added, “Work on taking down the hill in front of new school will continue into the first weeks of school. Once that is completed landscaping, finishing the driveway and parking areas will follow”.
The school system is asking that parents dropping students off and picking them up be patient as they work to complete the school drive and parking area.  Elsberry said, “Barring something unforeseen, it should be an exciting and smooth start of school on July 28th”.
