Being locked out of you own house, usually goes right along with having done something to make someone in the family unhappy – but in this case, that wasn't the case.
According to Incident Reports at the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office, the complainant said a man and a woman had gone into his home without permission – then locked him out.
He also informed deputies that a key had recently been taken and he believed someone was entering the residence and removing items.
Upon arrival the deputy witnessed a tan truck parked under the carport, and a male subject along with a female subject near the doorway – and it was quickly determined that the man, identified as 42 year old Paul Edward Averett of Mentone did indeed have possession of the stolen key.
The report also noted that the heat inside the home had been turned up – and the back door left open.
Investigators arrived on the scene and at that point, Averett was placed under arrest on the charges of Criminal Trespass.
