According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 2.40 magnitude earthquake rattled areas of Northwest Georgia Sunday night.

The epicenter of the disturbance was approximately 1.8 miles northwest of Dalton, and was originally rated as a 1.7 magnitude quake.

Recorded at 7:43pm EST, the seismic activity took place about 18 miles underground.
