Chattooga County Sheriff Deputies responded to a complaint of theft this past weekend. Officers met with homeowners, Doris and Katie Eley who stated that they lived next door to the property at 2740 Trion Teloga Road. Their mortgage company, Land Home Financial Services had reported the property at 2740 as abandoned and had hired a company called Wolverine, to come and winterize the home and property.
On March 9th, the complainants arrived home to find a male and female at the home, who claimed to work for Wolverine. The Eleys told the man and woman that they needed to leave as the property was not abandoned.
It was not until later that the Eleys discovered several items missing. A .25 snub nose pistol, some jewelry, and several silver dollars were initially noted as missing. They also had a copy of the work order paper left by the Wolverine contractors.
Officers turned the case over to investigators and the Eleys were going to do a more thorough inspection of missing items.
