A sixteen-year-old Floyd County resident was involved in a single vehicle accident on Oak Hill Road in Lyerly around 8 AM on Monday morning.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The SUV she was driving left the roadway, struck a mailbox, hit the ditch and overturned on its side at 1496 Oak Hill Road. The vehicle received moderate damage as a result of the accident.
The driver was entrapped inside the vehicle until the Lyerly Fire Department arrived on the scene and broke out the windshield of the SUV to extract her. Other than a few scratches, the driver had no other injuries. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident.
Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputies, the Georgia State Patrol, Redmond EMS and the Lyerly Fire Department all responded to the scene.
Oak Hill Road was closed for a period of time due to the accident.
