A $1.6 Billion shortfall in state revenues is causing State Agencies to look closely at their spending habits. The shortfall has lead to the merger of Northwestern Technical College in Rock Spring and Coosa Valley Technical College in Rome.
In addittion to the cuts that will be necessary to facilitate the merger of the two schools, officials at Northwestern who met on Monday say that more cuts are going to be necessary at the college in order to meet budget requirements. Jeff King, interim president of Northwestern, said "deeper cuts are likely".
Northwestern Tech serves students in Walker, Dade, Catoosa and Chattooga Counties.
