The Georgia State Patrol Post in Rome released a preliminary report on the fatal pedestrian accident that happened in Summerville on Monday night.

According to the report, the Georgia State Patrol responded to the vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Highway 27 near Greeson Street at 9:50 PM.  The state trooper’s investigation “determined that Mr. Jeremy Paul Crump, 45, was walking on the inside northbound lane of GA 1, south of Greeson Street.  A 2007 GMC Yukon was traveling north on GA  1 in the inside northbound lane and struck Mr. Crump, who succumbed to injuries he sustained in the crash.  Next of kin has been notified.  At this time, no charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the Yukon.  The crash report number is C000844429 and is currently not available to be released.”

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader told local news media on Tuesday morning that the victim was wearing dark clothing and that the driver of the Yukon stopped immediately after the accident.
