The embattled United Methodist Church (UMC)  has lost more congregations in Georgia after more conservative-minded congregations vote to disaffiliate from the denomination over what those that are leaving see as failure of the denomination’s leadership to enforce the church’s official commitment to biblical principals.  That includes more Methodist churches in Chattooga County.
Already, several United Methodist Churches in Chattooga County had disaffiliated from the UMC.

According to information released this week by the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, two more churches in Chattooga County have moved forward with their plans to become independent.  Both Lyerly United Methodist Church and Bethel United Methodist Church in Gore will be leaving the denomination.
